Request an Intern

  • About the Paid Student Internship Program

Admitted students first complete 7 weeks of Job Readiness Training--now offered virtually--which covers a wide range of job preparation topics, such as job hunting, interview preparation, effective communication, and financial literacy. Partners in Education works to find a match within the pool of student participants and business partners we have, aligning student career interests with a particular industry. Placements are finalized after a successful interview, and once an employer has made an offer. Students earn minimum wage and work up to 80 hours total over the course of an internship. Most interns work an average of 10 hours per week for 8 weeks. How Interns are Paid: Partners in Education is the employer of record and is responsible for covering the cost of an intern’s employment upfront, with the understanding that participating Intern Hosts will contribute toward the cost of their Student Intern(s). Beginning July 1, 2020, most typical employer contributions will amount to a flat rate of $800 per intern. NOTE: Santa Barbara County Education Office (SBCEO)/Partners in Education (Partners) will be the sole employer, acting as HR, Payroll, etc, and providing Workers' Compensation and liability insurance.
